Birthplace: Brazil

From a very young age, I was exposed to agriculture, and my first impression of the field was somewhat negative - my grandparents were struggling farmers. They tried for years to make a profit from their land, but that never happened. This saddened me but also sparked my curiosity. Why does something as important as food production have to be so challenging? What would have allowed my grandparents to continue working in agriculture? These questions led me to study agronomy.Starting my career as an agribusiness technician in 2010 at IFSP and as an agronomist in 2012 at the University of São Paulo, progressing through a master's and Ph.D. at the University of Florida, and now as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ohio State University, I have been working on plant and soil nutrition, plant ecophysiology, and crop stress management. My goal is to use my multidisciplinary background to conduct research that has a positive impact on farmers and fosters collaboration with researchers at local, regional, and international levels. The development of affordable technologies and strategies to overcome the various adversities that affect farmers is the main objective of my research. I also hope to improve science communication to the general public, which I see as a way to translate scientific findings into practical research results to meet society's needs.
