Antonio José Gonçalves da Cruz

Graduated in Chemical Engineering (1993) from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), with a Master's degree (1996) and PhD (2000) in Chemical Engineering from the same university. He completed a postdoctoral research (2021-2022) at the Laboratory of Renewable Resources Engineering (Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department, Purdue University). He has been a faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering at UFSCar since 1998, where he has served as Department Head (2004-2005), Undergraduate Program Coordinator (2008-2010), member of the Universitys Higher Council (2005-2006 and 2007-2009), and Graduate Program Coordinator (2019-2021). He has also served as a guest Director of the Brazilian Association of Chemical Engineering (2008-2010 and 2013-2014). In the undergraduate program, he teaches courses in the area of chemical processes. He has been part of the Graduate Program in Chemical Engineering at UFSCar since 2002. His research focuses on Chemical Engineering and Biochemical Engineering, with emphasis on Process Modeling, Simulation, Synthesis, Optimization, and Control of Processes. He is a researcher supported by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in the productivity scholarship modality (CA-EQ), level 2 (2016-2018, 2019-2021, 2022-present). His current research lines include: 1) Study of sugarcane, corn, and macroalgae biorefineries, focusing on technical-economic and environmental evaluation, and 2) Study of the integrated process of ethanol production and separation.
