He earned his Medical degree (1989) from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and completed his residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics (1993) at the same institution. He holds a Specialist Title in Gynecology and Obstetrics (TEGO, 1994) awarded by the Brazilian Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics and a Specialist Title in Mastology (TEMA, 1999) from the Brazilian Society of Mastology. He obtained a Masters degree in Tocogynecology (1996), a PhD (2000) in Tocogynecology, and a Habilitation (Livre-Docência, 2019) in Gynecology, all from UNICAMP. He has been a full-time faculty member in the Department of Tocogynecology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of UNICAMP since 2013 and currently holds the position of Associate Professor (since 2019). He is a core faculty member of the Postgraduate Program in Tocogynecology (CAPES grade 7 Medicine III).From 2000 to 2016, he collaborated with international researchers from 16 countries in the development and implementation of multicenter clinical trials for HPV vaccine testing in Phases II to IV, resulting in extensive scientific output, highlighting the co-authorship of nine publications in The Lancet. Since 2017, he has coordinated a research group focused on HPV testing for cervical cancer screening in the Brazilian public health system (SUS), in partnership with Professor Michelle Discacciati (University of Sao Paulo - USP). Currently publishing results with participation in Forums in Brazil, Latin America and Asia. Since 2019, he has also led a research group on prognostic biomolecular markers in uterine neoplasms, in collaboration with Professor Lara Termini (Cancer Innovation Laboratory, Medicine, USP) and Professor Larissa Eloy Costa (Pathology, UNICAMP).He publishes regularly, with over 103 scientific publications, 92 of which are indexed in the Web of Science, over 5,000 citations, and an h-index of 24. He has authored 48 book chapters and edited 4 books. He serves on the editorial boards of three medical journals and is a frequent peer reviewer for several journals, notably for The Lancet and Nature groups. He has supervised/co-supervised 3 doctoral theses, 8 academic masters theses, 5 undergraduate final projects, and 12 scientific initiation students with scholarships. He currently supervises 2 masters students, 4 doctoral candidates, 2 undergraduate final projects, 2 scientific initiation students, and one postdoctoral fellow at UNICAMP. He has received 13 awards.From 2019 to 2024, he was Director of the Oncology Division at the Womens Hospital (CAISM-UNICAMP). Since 2012, he has been a member of the National Specialized Commission on Vaccines of FEBRASGO.
