Deputy Dean (Global MD) and Associate Dean, Student Affairs, at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Medical School. Graduated in Medicine from the University of Sao Paulo (1999), with specialization (medical residency) in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at HC-FMUSP (2000-03). PhD in Endocrinology from University College London, UK, with a Full Capes Scholarship (2007-11). Previously Research Fellow at the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health, University College London (2005-11), FAPESP Young Investigator (2012-16), Attending Physician and Tenured Principal Investigator at the Division of Endocrinology, Hospital das Clínicas, FMUSP (2011-22), Coordinator of the Osteoporosis and Bone Health Center at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, São Paulo (2018-22) and Associate Professor and Basic Clinical Sciences Domain Chair at the University of Notre Dame Australia School of Medicine, Fremantle, Australia (2022-24). Interested in scientific communication, serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of the Endocrine Society (JES), and previously served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the Archives of Endocrinology and Metabolism (publication of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology). A leader in national and international scientific societies, he is a Director At-Large at the Board of Directors (2024-27) of the Endocrine Society. Previously, was a member of the Early Stage Investigator Subcommittee of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Metabolism (ASBMR, 2021-22), President of the Department of Basic Endocrinology (2021-22) and the Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (2021-22) of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology (SBEM), Scientific Director of the Brazilian Association for Bone Assessment and Metabolism (ABRASSO, 2019-21) and Chair of the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (2019-22) and of the Publications Core Committee (2022-24) of the Endocrine Society. Areas of scientific interest: medical education, molecular diagnosis, osteogenesis imperfecta, genetics of bone fragility and osteoporosis.
