DDr. Taiza Edwards is Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Neurology and Director of the Brain Stimulation and Motor Control Laboratory (BrainSMC lab) at the University of Sao Paulo, Ribeirao Preto Medical School (FMRP-USP), Brazil, and holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor at The University of Western Australia, School of Allied Health, Australia. Her clinical and research expertise has relied on neurorehabilitation, neuroimaging, clinical trial design, and non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS). Her Doctoral research investigated clinical, neuroimaging, and functional aspects of stroke patients with lateropulsion. Her education and training using non-invasive neuromodulation began with the Intensive Course in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) at BIDMC-Harvard, in Boston, 2011. Her postdoctoral fellowship focused on vascular neurology and neuroimaging analyses, and her further research fellowship was in NIBS. Dr. Taiza Edwards has broad experience in clinical research design, methodology, and management that has led to the role as site director for the Harvard University (TH Chan-School of Public Health) international training program, Principles and Practices of Clinical Research, at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School - University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP), Brazil. She also has extensive experience in managing local and multicenter clinical trials. She conducted the multinational clinical trial Head Position in Stroke Trial, HeadPoST, as the national study manager in Brazil and the local principal investigator of the General Hospital-FMRP-USP site. From 2013 to 2021, Dr. Taiza Edwards held the position of Scientific Project Manager for the National Research Stroke Network in Brazil and has been a member of the Clinical Research Committee of the Brazilian League of Epilepsy since 2020. As a Professor of the Post-graduate Program in Neurology at FMRP-USP, she has advised several undergraduate, master, and Ph.D. students. Dr. Taiza Edwards has been developing and conducting studies in collaboration with researchers from Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute (USA), City College of New York (USA), Cornell University (USA), Burke Medical Rehabilitation Center (USA), Grenoble University (France), and Edith Cowan University (Australia). Also, she is a Consultant for a clinical trial in NIBS in the US and part of an expert group in lateropulsion among researchers from Australia, Germany, the USA, France, England, Italy, Japan, and Canada.
