Peroxiredoxins (PRDX), the most abundant proteins in erythrocytes, are a family of thiol-specific enzymes which is involved in cellular antioxidant activity, since it acts on reduction and consequent degradation of hydrogen peroxide, organic hydroperoxides and peroxynitrite.
