holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Faculty of Mathematics, Astronomy and Physics (1993), a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of São Paulo (2000), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution in 2002. He obtained the Habilitation (Livre-Docência) from the University of São Paulo in 2018 and has been an Associate Professor at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) since 2022.In 2020, he received the Johannes Kepler Award from the Brazilian Society of Applied and Computational Mathematics for the article Context tree selection and linguistic rhythm retrieval for written texts (A. Galves, C. Galves, J. E. García, N. L. Garcia, and F. Leonardi). In 2023, he was elected a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).He has been a faculty member at the University of Campinas since 2003, where he currently serves as the local coordinator of the Professional Masters Program in Mathematics in National Network (PROFMAT). His research focuses on Probability and Statistics, with an emphasis on inference in stochastic processes, statistical dependence, and computational statistics.
