Rodrigo Pereira Barretto da Costa-Félix

Rodrigo Costa-Felix holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering (1995), a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Psychoacoustics (1996) and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (2005) with emphasis on Metrological Ultrasound. He has been a metrology and quality researcher at Inmetro since 1996 and head of the Ultrasound Laboratory since 2008. He has been training human resources and intellectual capital, having taught over 35 short courses and more than 50 lectures or seminars. Rodrigo is a professor at the Graduate Program in Metrology and Quality (2009-present) and the Graduate Program in Metrology and Technology (2019-present), both at Inmetro. He is currently Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Metrology and Technology at Inmetro. He served as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biotechnology (2017-2021) and the Graduate Program in Metrology (2024). He has been a full member of the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering (SBEB) since 2006, in which he served as Secretary (2006-2008), Treasurer (2009-2010), Counselor of SBEB (2013-2014), Vice-President (2015-2016), Secretary (2017-2018), President (2019-2020), Counselor (2023-2026), and is currently President of the Counselor (2025-2026). He has been a member of the Brazilian Society of Metrology (SBM) since 2014, of which he served as a member of the Financial Council (2014-2015), vice president (2016-2018; 2018-2020; 2020-2022) and is currently president (2022-2024; 2024-2026). Rodrigo was an Effective Member of the Brazilian Association of Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection (Abendi) from 2010 to 2015. It has been working in standardisation since 1997, preparing more than 35 national and 40 international technical standards. He is the Coordinator of the Committee of Studies in Metrology in Equipment for Non-Destructive Testing of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT CE-53:000.03). Rodrigo has been the Coordinator of IEC SCT62D JWG38 (Ultrasound Therapeutic Equipment) since 2022 and a specialist in several working groups on IEC TC87 (Ultrasound) since 2010. He is a member of the Technological Development Evaluation Committee (CA-DT) of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) (2022-2026). He has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of a Brazilian private company (GM Metrologia) since January 2024. He has been a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of a Brazilian private company (SENAI-ISI-SIM) since February 2024. Rodrigo has experience in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Metrology and Ultrasound. Rodrigo has authored or co-authored more than 108 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 120 conference papers. He is the inventor of four invention patents, three of which have been granted, one licensed, and one patent pending (deposited). Rodrigo has three computer programs registered with the INPI.
