Birthplace: Brazil

She graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in 2003, where she also obtained her Master's degree in 2005 and her PhD in Pharmacology in 2010.After her doctorate, she carried out post-doctoral research at several prestigious institutions. Between 2010 and 2011, she was at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (Scotland), where she studied the interaction between the substantia nigra compacta and the pedunculopontine nucleus in rats in the context of learning associations between action and reward. From 2012 to 2019, she worked at the University of São Paulo (USP), Ribeirão Preto campus, focusing on the role of inflammatory processes in L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia in an animal model of Parkinson's disease. In the following years, her research expanded to areas related to physiology and pneumology. At the University of Saarland, Homburg, Germany, she worked on glial calcium signalling in chronic degenerative pathologies and later focused on alveolar macrophage-based therapies for lung diseases and the validation of targets for the treatment of chronic lung infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. She currently holds a scientific coordination position in the laboratory of Prof Dr Frank Kirchhoff at Saarland University, where she is responsible for supervising experiments, training students, reviewing scientific literature and providing general support for laboratory activities, with a focus on molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuron-glia interaction in the central nervous system.
