Graduate in Nursing and Obstetrics (1996) and Nursing Education (1997), Master of Science (2001) and Ph.D. (2006) from University of Sao Paulo (USP), and post-doctoral studies at USP and National Hospital Copenhagen University (2011). Her research field is "symptom control", specially cognitive impairment and pain. Moreover, she develops studies about acute pain, chronic pain, compliance to treatment, effects of opioids and palliative care. To enhance her skills in cognitive impairment and pain treatment, she attended externships at University of Chicago, University of Illinois, University of Sydney and McGill University Montreal General Hospital.
