Carolina is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Paytan Biogeochemistry Lab at the University of California, Santa Cruz (FAPESP 2023/08623-9). She holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Economics from the Institute of Economics at the University of Campinas, funded by FAPESP (2016/13820-4). Since 2011, she has been a researcher at the Center for Applied, Agricultural, and Environmental Economics Studies at the Institute of Economics, Unicamp. She was a FAPESP doctoral fellow (2019/05278-3) during her tenure as a visiting researcher at the United Nations University in the Netherlands.Carolina is also a researcher at the Center for Strategic Studies at Fiocruz, where she develops studies on the sustainable transition of Brazils Unified Health System (SUS) and the decarbonization of the Health Industrial and Economic Complex. She has served as a collaborating researcher for the European Union/Horizon 2020 program under the European Commission within the Marie-Curie agreement between 2019 and 2020. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Planning (Nipe) with financial support from FAPESP (2020/16135-6).She has contributed as a researcher to various projects, including those for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Petrobras, and others, particularly on topics related to sustainable integration, economics, and greenhouse gas emissions in the Amazon Rainforest. Carolina coordinated a project for the development and implementation of public policy through a partnership between the Institute of Economics at Unicamp, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the state of Rio de Janeiro. This project, funded by the One Planet Network Multi-Partner Trust Fund, focused on public policies for climate resilience based on urban food systems. The project video was selected by the UN for its Climate Series.Her research agenda includes climate change and sustainable economic development, public policy and the environment, ecosystem services, energy transition, climate vulnerability and food systems, just transition, and decarbonization.
