Carolina is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (Paytan Biogeochemistry Lab), University of California, Santa Cruz, supported by FAPESP (2023/08623-9). She holds a PhD and an MSc in Economics from the Institute of Economics, University of Campinas (UNICAMP), funded by FAPESP (2016/13820-4). She also holds an MSc in Geosciences (Climate and Environment) from the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina. Since 2011, she has been a researcher at the Center for Studies in Applied, Agricultural, and Environmental Economics at the Institute of Economics, UNICAMP. She was a FAPESP doctoral fellow (2019/05278-3) and served as a visiting researcher at the United Nations University in the Netherlands. Carolina is also a researcher at the Center for Strategic Studies at Fiocruz, where she conducts studies on the sustainable transition of Brazils Unified Health System (SUS) and the decarbonization of the Health Economic-Industrial Complex. She worked as a collaborating researcher in the European Unions Horizon 2020 program under the European Commission within a Marie Sk#322;odowska-Curie agreement between 2019 and 2020. She completed a postdoctoral appointment at the Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Planning (NIPE) with support from FAPESP (2020/16135-6). She has contributed to projects for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Petrobras, and others, particularly on sustainable integration, economics, and greenhouse gas emissions in the Amazon. Carolina coordinated a public policy design and implementation project in partnership between the UNICAMP Institute of Economics, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the State of Rio de Janeiro, funded by the One Planet Network Multi-Partner Trust Fund, focused on public policies for climate resilience based on urban food systems. The project video was selected by the United Nations for the Climate Series. Her research agenda includes climate change and sustainable economic development, public policy and the environment, ecosystem services and economic valuation, energy transition, climate vulnerability and food systems, just transition, and decarbonization.
