Aline Sbizera Martinez

Oceanographer graduated at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), with a master's degree (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN) and doctorate (University of Sydney - USYD) in Ecology. I am a scientist who investigates the effects of natural and anthropogenic factors on community dynamics and the functioning of marine benthic ecosystems. I use an approach that combines correlational studies and field experimentation to test ecological theories about species distribution and interactions, habitat use, and functional responses associated with ecosystem services. Through my research, I am also dedicated to developing solutions that foster environmental, social, and economic sustainability in coastal regions. Thus, I have been actively involved in projects related to environmental impacts and management, as well as engaging in research innovation focused on marine ecoengineering for coastal cities. My main research interests include benthic ecology, anthropogenic impacts, ecosystem services, nature-based solutions (NbS), and conservation of coastal ecosystems.In addition to my research activities, I am actively involved in the Women's League for the Ocean, a network movement that aims to empower women and promote ocean conservation. Currently, I hold a role in the coordination of the Ocean Decade Working Group.
