Pedro Mariano Sousa Bezerra

Pedro Mariano Sousa Bezerra is a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC). During the Ph.D, he was a member of the Viva Bem: Artificial Intelligence Hub for Health and Wellbeing, a multidisciplinary research project in partnership with Samsung. He has an MSc in Computer Engineering from Unicamp (2018). He obtained a Double Degree in Computer Engineering (2016) at Unicamp and CentraleSupélec, in Gif-sur-Yvette, France. He undertakes research in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning techniques, multi-objective optimization, recommender systems, autoencoders, and vital signs processing. From 2021 to 2023, he worked as an AI research consultant at Predikta, dealing with thermography image processing and algorithms for symptom classification and detection. He was awarded the "Von Neumann Award" by the Institute of Computing (IC), Unicamp, and the "Professional Excellence Award" by the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of São Paulo (CREA-SP), and the "Institute of Engineering Award" by the Institute of Engineering, São Paulo, for being the top 1 student in Computer Engineering in the class of 2016 at Unicamp. In 2013, he was awarded the EIFFEL Excellence Scholarship, granted by theFrench Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, for being admitted to the Double Degree Program between the Unicamp and CentraleSupélec with excellent academic records. From 2012 to 2015, he participated in Teaching Assistant Programs at Unicamp for Physics 1 and 3 courses and from 2008 to 2009 for the Physics discipline at the Technical High School of Campinas (COTUCA).
