Postdoctoral fellow at Yale University (1985-1987). Faculty member at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro since 1980. Vice-Director of the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics / UFRJ. Founding member and President of the Brazilian Association of Cellular and Gene Therapy (ABTCel). Titular member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) since 2006. National Order of Scientific Merit (2006). Currently Full professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Head of the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology. Experience in the area of Neuroscience and Neurology working in basic, pre-clinical and clinical research in cell and gene therapies in diseases and injuries of the Nervous System.
