Michael Cabrera Baez

Michael Cabrera Baez holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Bogotá (2011), and an M.Sc. (2014) and Ph.D. (2017) in Physics from the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), Brazil. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Gleb Wataghin Institute of Physics, UNICAMP (20172019), and served as an associated researcher in a FAPESP Thematic Project (20182023). Since 2019, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE).He currently serves as Deputy Coordinator of the UFPE Department of Physics Multiuser Central Facility and Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Physics. He is also a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level C), and supervises students at the undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels.His research focuses on Statistical Mechanics and Condensed Matter Physics, with emphasis on quantum materials, heavy-fermion systems, valence fluctuations, quantum criticality, strongly correlated electrons, and magnetic properties. He has extensive experience in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR/ESR), advanced materials characterization, single-crystal and quasicrystal growth, and the study of intermetallic and cage-like systems.He has authored over 30 papers in international peer-reviewed journalsincluding Physical Review B, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, and Journal of Materials Scienceand regularly participates in major international conferences (ICM, ICTP, SBPMat, SCES, among others).
