She holds a degree in Biological Sciences - Medical Modality, a master's and a doctorate in Basic and Applied Immunology from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, and a postdoctoral degree in Biological Chemistry. She is a professor and researcher at the University of Franca and an affiliated member of the Center for Discovery and Innovation in Parasitic Diseases at the University of California, San Diego. Her research focuses on treatment strategies for neglected tropical diseases, including schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis, along with investigations into the understanding of immunopathology associated with schistosomiasis. The laboratory is composed of a multidisciplinary team operating within a specialized research infrastructure that combines biology, chemistry, and molecular and microscopy assays. She has been contributing to the analysis of papers submitted to various scientific journals, reviewing projects submitted to funding agencies, and collaborating with various research groups in Brazil and abroad, as well as contributing to the training of human resources.
