Sarah Brooke Hornsby

Flutist Sarah Hornsby holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. In 2013 she received her diploma in historical interpretation at the Frankfurt Hochschule. She has dedicated herself to the performance of contemporary music, having premieredo several works by contemporary composers as a soloist and in collaboration with various groups in the United States and Europe, such as the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, the Ensemble Remix Portugal and Manhattan Contemporary Ensemble and in Brazil with the Camerata Aberta, the Ensemble Música Nova and the Camerata Latino Americana.She has performed as a recitalist in the United States, Brazil and Germany and as a soloist in various orchestras including the Manhattan Chamber Symphony and Sinfonieorchester Berlin. She has performed as guest with the Deutsches Sinfinieorchester, the Bilbao Symphony and the São Paulo Symphony. In 1996, she performed at Carnegie Recital Hall as winner of the "Artists International Competition". Sarah Hornsby has recorded for the Centaur, Koch-Schwann and Selo SESC labels.Since 1996 she has served as professor of flute, chamber music and coordinator of the contemporary music group. She has formerly served on the faculty of the Manhattan Scholl of Music and the Musikschule Butzbach. Since 2023 she has served as professor of flute at the Universidade Estadual Paulista.In 2015 she completed the doctoral program in music at the State University of Campinas under the guidance of Silvio Ferraz having focused on the work of Brazilian composer Arthur Kampela.
