An archaeologist with expertise in deep indigenous history, he is a senior researcher at the Department of Anthropology of the University of Brasilia. He also conducts research at the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology of the University of São Paulo, where he obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees and did a postdoctoral internship. He held the position of courtesy assistant professor at the Department of Anthropology of the University of Florida from 2022 to 2024. He conceived and overseas the Center of Indigenous Archaeology of the University of Brasilia. Currently, he is investigating the interrelationships between archaeological and ethnographic contexts at the projects: Archaeology and Indigenous History in Central Brazil, Historical Connections between the Burials of the Gruta do Gentio II Rockshelter and the Indigenous Communities from Central Brazil (DAN/UNB), Middle Guaporé, and Unveiled Amazon (MAE/USP). He has been coordinating projects in Central Brazil and the Brazilian Amazon, particularly in research involving Amazonian shellmounds, ceramic technology, collaborative archaeology, isotopic archaeology, geoglyphs, geoprocessing, human burials, lithic technology, public archaeology, remote sensing, repatriation, rockshelters, and stratigraphy. From 2009 to 2013, he worked at the Brazilian National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage and oversaw the National Register of Archaeological Sites. He has been a member of the Society for Brazilian Archaeology since 2011, the Society for American Archaeology since 2013, and the World Archaeological Congress since 2016.
