Graduated in Biological Sciences (Bachelor's degree) at the University of São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil) and University of Florida (Florida, United States), with a scholarship funded by Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement (CAPES, Science without Borders program). As an undergraduate student, Ligia completed an internship and Scientific Initiation in marine zooplankton ecology (Institute of Oceanography, University of São Paulo) and also worked with molecular biology and phylogeography of Antarctic marine invertebrates at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (University of California San Diego, United States). She has a Master's degree in Zoology from the University of São Paulo (CAPES scholarship) and a Sandwich Doctorate in Zoology from the University of São Paulo and The University of Western Australia (Western Australia, Australia) (São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and CAPES scholarships).Experience in Ecology, Zoology, Molecular Biology, and R programming (statistical analyses and data science), with an emphasis on marine invertebrates. Interest in the following topics: Mollusca Cephalopoda, reproductive biology, sexual selection, sperm competition, alternative reproduction tactics, morphology and behavior.
