Birthplace: Brazil

Bruno holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo and a master's degree from the Zoology Department of IBUSP (Brazil). He obtained his PhD in Molecular and Computational Biology at the Sars Center at the University of Bergen (Norway). He is currently a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden (Germany). His research is focused on evolutionary developmental biology (or EvoDevo) using invertebrates to unravel how embryonic development evolves. He has experience with molecular approaches for sequencing and studying genomes, gene expression analysis using transcriptomes and in situ hybridization, as well as advanced microscopy techniques such as confocal, spinning-disk and lightsheet for imaging embryos. More recently, he is investigating how tissue mechanics can influence the evolution of morphogenetic innovations in animal embryonic development. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
