Ana Lívia Agostinho is a professor of Linguistics at the Department of Vernacular Language and Literature at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and also works at the Graduate Program in Linguistics at UFSC, focusing on the area of Theory and Linguistic Analysis - Research Lines: Phonetics and Phonology of Natural Languages, Contact Variation, and Change. She holds a bachelor's degree in Letters - Linguistics from the University of São Paulo (USP) - Faculty of Philosophy, Letters, and Human Sciences (2008), and a doctorate in Philology and Portuguese Language from the University of São Paulo (2014). She is the Supervisor of the Applied Phonetics Laboratory (FONAPLI) at the Department of Vernacular Language and Literature at UFSC and the Coordinator of the Linguistic Contact Studies Group at UFSC (since 2017). She is a member of The Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics (SPCL) and the Varsul-UFSC Project. She served as the Secretary-General of the Brazilian Association of Linguistic Contact Studies (ABECS) from 2019 to 2021. Her main research interests include phonology, creole languages, linguistic contact, linguistic description, fieldwork methodology, phonology of Brazilian Portuguese, and language planning and policy in São Tomé and Príncipe. She was a visiting researcher at the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2019-2020 with a CNPq Postdoctoral Scholarship,and in 2024 with a CAPES-PRINT scholarship.
