Rafael Estrada Mejía holds a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil), an M.Sc. in Regional Planning and Regional Science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He is a socio-cultural and applied anthropologist trained in both Europe and Latin America, with expertise in the ethnography of knowledge and biographical methods, urban resettlements, social ecology, and migration and transnationalism, particularly in Colombia, Brazil, and Spain.For nearly a decade, he worked as a practicing anthropologist on numerous projects with Indigenous peoples, focusing on food security, Indigenous development, legal advocacy, health, interethnic relations, and ethno-education in the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina (Colombia), as well as in the broader Amazonian region across Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil.Dr. Estrada Mejía served as an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Delaware (Newark, USA). He has also taught at the University of Los Llanos (Colombia) and São Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil). He has conducted postdoctoral research at UNICAMP, UNESP, and the University of Delaware.His academic work includes the publication of book chapters and peer-reviewed articles in edited volumes and academic journals in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
