Flávio de Oliveira Silva is a professor at the Department of Informatics (DI) in the Engineering School of the University of Minho (UMinho) in Portugal and a full member of Centro ALGORITMI since 2023.From 2008 to 2023, he was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computing (FACOM) of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) and the coordinator of the graduate program in computer science at UFU from 2018 to 2021.He holds a Ph.D. from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (2013) and a master's in Computer Science from Federal University Uberlândia (2004). He graduated from UFU with a degree in Computer Science (1993) and Electrical Engineering (1992).His research interests are Future Networks, Software-Defined Networking, Internet of Things (IoT), Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, Cloud Computing, Ubiquitous and Mobile Computing, and Software-based Innovation. Responsible for supervising and co-orienting twenty(20) master's and seven (7) PhDs. An IEEE Senior Member, ACM, ISOC, and SBC member, he has published numerous papers and presented at conferences worldwide. He has over 100 publications in journals and proceedings of international and national conferences, 78 indexed (Scopus), most with international collaborators. He has in Scopus (h-index = 12) and Google Scholar (h-index = 15).He reviews journals such as the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), IEEE Network Magazine, and IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management. He is also a member of the Technical Program Committee (TPC) of several IEEE conferences, such as ICC, SOCA, and NETSOFT.He is an individual member of the FIWARE Foundation's Mission Support Committees, FIWARE Mundus, and FIWARE iHub (MSC). He has coordinated several national and international projects involving collaborations funded by different sources, such as CAPES, CNPq, FAPEMIG, FAPESP, BNDES, ABDI, Petrobras, SEBRAE/RJ, and NOKIA. He has collaborated on 22 research projects and has been PI or co-PI in 21 of these projects, including projects funded by international programs such as FP7 and H2020.A Systems Engineer and Analyst with thirty-three years of experience in the software industry, especially in highly available and distributed web-based systems, software development using object-oriented technology, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and Web Services utilization of system integration, project management using the PMI method, team building, and professional training. Experience in team building, leadership, and motivation, acting as a responsible leader for analysts, web designers, architects, and programmers. Responsible for developing the first Brazilian software for designing CAD/CAE-based electrical installations using Autodesk's AUTOCAD platform and technologies such as AutoLISP and ObjectARX.
