Birthplace: Brazil

Rafael Amoresi is currently a Professor at Universitat Jaume I, Spain. He holds a bachelor's, master's and PhD in Chemistry from the universities UEMS, UFGD and Instituto de Química de Araraquara UNESP-Brazil, respectively. He began his career as a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of Guaratinguetá, UNESP in 2018, FAPESP Project, working with the synthesis of nanoparticles, obtaining them with different morphologies and as heterojunctions, applied in the areas of gas sensor, biosensor and photocatalysis. He worked for one year (BEPE/FAPESP) at the University Jaume I in Spain with computational simulations using the density functional theory evaluating the adsorption of gases on the surface of CeO2. He worked as a Professor at three universities: Temporary Professor UFGD-Brazil (2012-2014), Collaborating Professor FEG-Unesp-Brazil (2019) and Visiting Professor UFABC-Brazil (2023-2024). He has experience in the synthesis of nanoparticles by bottom-up techniques (hydrothermal, coprecipitation, sol gel and Pechini) and in the growth of thin films by physical methods (pulsed laser deposition, PLD) and chemical methods (spin coating and dip coating), as well as the materials characterization by several techniques: spectroscopic techniques (XPS, UV-Vis absorption and emission, vibrational: infrared and Raman), X-ray diffraction and microscopy (SEM and TEM). His research interest is to evaluate the relationship between transport/transfer of charge carriers and the structure and morphology of materials seeking advances in photocatalytic, electrical and biosensor properties.
