Melissa Ferreira is a practitioner-researcher and educator. Her research focuses is the participation of children and young people as collaborators and performers in contemporary experimental theatre. She wrote the book "Isto não é um ator - O teatro da Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio" (Perspectiva Ed., 2016). She holds a PhD in Theater at The State University of Santa Catarina, Brazil (UDESC). From August 2019 to January 2020, Melissa was a Visiting Scholar at The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at The City University of New York (CUNY). She was an Assistant Professor at The State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) from 2009 to 2017. She was a postdoctoral fellow of The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) at The State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) from 2018 to 2022. She was also a postdoctoral fellow (CAPES) at the Federal University of Ouro Preto from 2015 to 2018. Melissa has participated in performing arts festivals in Brazil, Costa Rica, Germany and Italy.
