Holds a bachelor's degree in Oceanography and both a master's and a Ph.D. in Aquaculture. Completed two postdoctoral fellowships funded by CNPq: a junior postdoctoral fellowship (20122013) and an industrial postdoctoral fellowship (20182019). Since 2013, he has been a faculty member at the Federal University of São Paulo (Baixada Santista Campus), where he is affiliated with the Graduate Programs in Marine and Coastal Biodiversity and Ecology (PPGBEMC) and Bioproducts and Bioprocesses (PPGBIOBIO). Has professional experience as head of the production sector in a marine shrimp hatchery and as production manager in grow-out shrimp farms. His expertise in aquaculture includes water quality, maturation, larviculture, nursery, and grow-out phases of marine shrimp. His research focuses on two main areas: (1) development of systems and technologies for aquatic organism farming, with an emphasis on biofloc technology; and (2) application of microorganisms in aquaculture, investigating functional and ecological aspects through metagenomic approaches. Former vice-coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Bachelor's Program in Marine Science and Technology, and currently serves as associate director of the Institute of the Sea at UNIFESP.
