This project consists in the calculation of the partition function as outlined by Zabzine in (PRZ17,IQRZ20) on contact Calabi-Yau manifolds in (CADSE20,PSE19). The candidate will study these papers, seeking to understand the relation between these areas, and will apply what he learns to do this calculation, which, if successful, can be published as original research. This project deals with the relation between gauge theory and symplectic geometry. The student will study the section 6.5 of the book The Geometry of Four-Manifolds, by Donaldson and Kronheimer, aiming to understand the proposition 6.5.8 from this book, about moment maps in the connection space of a Manifold. In this internship, the candidate will calculate partition functions for supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on Calabi-Yau links. This internship follows one at Oxford in which the candidate will have studied the mathematical side of Calabi-Yau links and mapped the necessary procedure to do this calculation. (AU)
In this internship, the student will study Calabi-Yau links in 7 dimensions, and will identify the steps necessary for the calculation of partition functions on these manifolds. The candidate will also take courses related to his masters project, and attend student and research seminars from the university's geometry and physics groups.
