Birthplace: Brazil

Tiago is an agronomist with a PhD in Biosystems Engineering, with MBA in Data Sciency and Analytics. He has conducted academic activities at the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil), the University of Seville (Spain), the University of São Paulo (Brazil), Ghent University (Belgium), and the University of Sydney (Australia). Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA-USP), developing strategies to modernize soil fertility analysis, focusing on predictive modeling and spectral libraries using vis-NIR and XRF techniques. His work is funded by FAPESP.In 2022, he received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA), and his thesis was awarded an honorable mention in the CAPES Thesis Award and the USP Thesis Highlight Award. He was also recognized by Bayer in the Mentes da Inovação Award, which honors young researchers with innovative ideas.Tiago has practical and academic experience in developing sensing approaches and spectral libraries for monitoring soil and plants, both in laboratory settings and directly in the field. His research has explored the frontiers of knowledge in vis-NIR and XRF spectroscopy, predictive modeling strategies with large data volumes, and the evaluation of analytical technique performance based on the fitness-for-purpose approach. His goal is to contribute to the development of technologies that enhance the monitoring of agricultural systems, supporting data-driven decision-making and more sustainable practices.
