Nancy França Lo Man Hung

Biologist with extensive experience in invertebrate taxonomy, phylogeny, and ecology, specializing in arachnids, with a background in research, curation, and environmental management. I hold a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences (teaching and bachelors degrees) from the University of Guarulhos (2002), an M.Sc. in Zoology from PUCRS (2013), and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the University of São Paulo (USP), including a research internship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). I was on maternity leave in early 2013 during my masters program (CNPq process 130775/2011-8). My professional journey includes seven years at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, where I worked on projects integrating biological collections, biodiversity inventories, and taxonomy, followed by a role at Carste Ciência e Meio Ambiente, coordinating teams in cave fauna projects. My research focuses on systematics, biodiversity, and evolutionary genetics, including the description of new species and investigations into Hox genes role in spider development, with an emphasis on transcriptomics, regeneration, and morphological evolution. At CETESB, I worked in environmental impact assessment, technical review of EIA/RIMA and RAP studies, and the preparation of technical reports for environmental licensing, including vegetation suppression and interventions in Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs). I also conducted coastal water monitoring, analyzing water quality data for environmental diagnostics. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Ecology Department at the Institute of Biosciences, USP, working on climate adaptation genomics, ecology, and evolution.
