Birthplace: Brazil

Holds a Bachelor's in Nutrition degree from Universidade de Brasília (2005). Master's (2009), PhD (2012) and Postdoctoral fellowship (2015) on Functional and Molecular Biology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Studied mechanisms of insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis regulation in the context of protein malnutrition, obesity and in vitro amino acid restriction. Currently is a Research Fellow at the Joslin Diabetes Center / Harvard Medical School and works on identification and characterization of novel transcriptional targets of insulin action in vivo, and using human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to unravel cell-autonomous mechanisms of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes.
