Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). Campus São Paulo. Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Brazil
Graduated in Biological Sciences at Centro Universitário São Camilo, she holds a Master's and Ph.D in Microbiology and Immunology from DMIP-UNIFESP, where she worked with the epidemiology of bloodstream infections caused by extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC), Klebsiella spp., and Enterobacter spp. She also worked with the epidemiology of multidrug-resistant E. coli strains isolated from bacteremia, and with the occurrence of ExPEC and resistant bacteria in the intestinal microbiota of healthy hosts. Ana Carolina has experience using experimental animal models of bacterial virulence (murine models of sepsis and bacterial translocation, and alternative models of infection in G. mellonella), in bacterial genetics, and bioinformatics. She is a Postdoctoral researcher at Experimental Laboratory for Enterobacteriaceae Pathogenicity (LEPE), coordenate by Tania Gomes, where she is conducting research about the virulence of E. coli strains isolated from bacteremia that lacks classical virulence factors associated with extraintestinal infections. She also participates in several research projects at LEPE involving pathogens isolated from human infections (extraintestinal and intestinal) and bacteria from microbiota. Currently, receive PDE by CNPq to work at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU Münster), being supervised by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Dobrindt. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
