Matheus Sanches de Sá Bergamo

CV Lattes ORCID

Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Física de São Carlos (IFSC)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Matheus Bergamo completed his Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP) at the Institute of Physics of São Carlos (IFSC) (2020) in the Theoretical-Experimental qualification. He is currently doing a master's degree at the Department of Cosmic Rays and Chronology (DRCC) at the Gleb Wataghin Institute of Physics (IFGW) at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He is a member of the Association of Post-Graduates in Physics (APGF) of the elected slate for 2022 and 2023. He works with nuclear and radiation physics, specifically with computational calculations of radiation damage and shielding using Monte Carlo techniques. In his area of expertise, Bergamo investigates the possibility of using ancient minerals to detect neutrinos with crystalline defects. The production of theses defects occurs by nuclear recoils resulting from the interaction of neutrinos and background radiation with the mineral's atoms. In addition, he has experience on manufacturing organic thin films and their electronic characterization, having carried out a undergraduate research project in the Polymer Group Prof. Bernhard Gross of the IFSC. He also acted as a physics instructor and teacher at the Pre-College College Course (CPV) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) in 2016 and 2017, respectively. He is interested in particle physics in the neutrino sector and in the search for dark matter candidates. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
