Altigran Soares da Silva is a full professor at the Instituto de Computação - Universidade Federal do Amazonas (IComp/UFAM). He completed his PhD in Computer Science at UFMG in 2002. His research interests include Data Management, Information Retrieval and Data Mining, Machine Learning and Language Models, with emphasis on the World-Wide Web environment, Social Media, as well as applications in law, financial markets and health. He has coordinated and participated in dozens of research projects that resulted in more than 150 scientific publications in journals and conference proceedings. He has coordinated program committees of conferences in Brazil and abroad, and has also participated as a member of technical program committees in about 50 international conferences and workshops. He served as Pro-Rector for Research and Graduate Studies at UFAM (2007/2009), served on the CA-CC of CNPq as coordinator (2023/2024) and member (2016/2019 and 2021/2024), as deputy coordinator of the computing area at CAPES (2011/2013), as a member of the board (2005/2015) and of the council (2016/2019) of SBC, and as a member of the superior council of FAPEAM (2021/2023). He is currently a member of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the RNP/MCTI Management Contract, a member of the SBC council, deputy coordinator for professional programs in the computing area at CAPES, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society. He was also a co-founder of technology ventures, including Akwan, acquired by Google (2005), Neemu, acquired by Linx Sistemas (2015), and Teewa, acquired by JusBrasil (2019). In 2013, a doctoral thesis under his supervision received 1st place in the SBC Thesis and Dissertation Competition and an Honorable Mention in the CAPES Thesis Award. In 2013, he also received the SBC Outstanding Member award. In 2015, he won one of the "Google Research Awards in Latin America" #8203;#8203;as an advisor. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
