Graduated from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2003), and obtained Master's degree in Biophysics from Instituto de Biofísica Carlos Chagas Filho (IBCCF / UFRJ; 2005). Obtained PhD in Zoology/Biochemistry with emphasis on Myrmecology from CEIS/UNESP (2010). Postdoctoral resercher at UFRJ (2010-2013); Senior researcher at DEE/UNIL Switzerland (2013-2015), and finally as a postdoctoral fellow at CAS / SCAU China (2016-2018). Specialises on the biological aspects of fire ants, employing molecular biology and biochemistry tools, with emphasis on the venom toxinology. Seasoned field worker, and public speaker. The fire ant Solenopsis saevissima is responsible for most accidents involving insect stings in Brazil. We plan to throughly investigate the composition of the venom from this species, after the extraction, fractioning and identification of present compounds by means of mass espectometry.
