Álvaro Fabrício Lopes Rios

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Centro Universitário de Araraquara (1999), Master's (2001/2003) and Doctorate (2003/2007) in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the University of São Paulo, working in the areas of genetics and epigenetics. He works in the field of Molecular Genetics, with an emphasis on epigenetic control of gene expression in human diseases and in animal models. It has experience in the following topics: analysis of gene expression in mammalian embryos in the preimplantation period, analysis of DNA methylation in animals born in vivo and by nuclear transfer, analysis of next-generation sequencing (RNA-seq, Bis-seq and ChIP -seq) for studies of epigenetic mechanisms associated with human diseases. He currently works in the area of epigenetic mechanisms associated with the etiology of human diseases and in animal models, involving non-coding RNAs, X chromosome inactivation and genomic imprinting.
