My research, "Learning from the Commons: Housing for an Urban Social Revolution," investigates the concept of the commons as a tool for rethinking Brazilian cities and housing.Between 2021 and 2022, I served as a Collaborating Professor III at FAUUSP, hired through the University of São Paulos Talent Attraction and Retention Program (PART). During this period, I proposed and co-taught the course AUH0545 Learning from the Commons, alongside Professor Leandro Medrano.I have been a member of the Research Group on Critical Thinking and the Contemporary City (PC3) since 2020 and was a FAPESP fellow with the project 20/11917-6, developed within the Thematic Project 16/22704-8, "Architecture and Urbanism in the Social Space of the 21st Century: Strategies of Segregation and Tactics of Appropriation," in partnership with Harvard University (USA), TU Delft (Netherlands), UPM (Spain), ETH Zurich (Switzerland), and KTH (Sweden). My academic background includes:A degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL);A masters degree in Complex Architectural Project Management from La Sapienza University and the École Nationale Supérieure dArchitecture de Paris-Val de Seine (ENSA Paris-Val de Seine);A PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), with the dissertation "Urban Informality Shaped by Labor: Approaching the Spatial Logics of Favelas," funded by CAPES (20152018) and TU Delft (20182019).The results of my doctoral research have been published in journals such as Traditional Dwellings and Settlements Review (TDSR), from the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Oregon. I participated in the Author Meets Critics session of the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research (IJURR) and the Wohnungsfrage seminar (2015). In 2019, I was awarded a grant from the Global Architectural Teaching Collaborative (GAHTC), led by MIT and the University of Washington. In 20232024, a research project I authored on commons care was selected by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) (100.000 euros) in collaboration between FAUUSP and POLITO (Politecnico di Torino).I have presented my research at institutions such as Harvard GSD (2019) and POLITO (2022). Since 2021, I have been a member of the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) as an early career scholar and, since 2024, I have been participating in the Sophiapol and Groupe dÉtudes sur le Néolibéralisme et Alternatives. In 2024, I was qualified in a public examination for a substitute professorship in the field of Social Foundations of Architecture and Urbanism at FAUUSP. My academic interests include theory, history, and criticism of architecture and urbanism, urban sociology and ethnography, community urbanism, and urban design. I believe teaching and research are my true vocation. My academic path has led me to explore and engage with diverse pedagogical and research approaches in a variety of international and Brazilian academic environments, always guided by a critical and interdisciplinary perspective on the city.
