Marta Banasiak is a postdoctoral researcher at IEL-Unicamp and a scholarship holder from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). She holds a degree in Czech philology (2009) and a master's degree in Portuguese philology (2013) with a thesis on contemporary Mozambican prose from the Carolina University in Prague, Rep. Czech. She holds a PhD in Romanesque Studies with a specialty in African Studies (2019) from the University of Lisbon. She was a doctoral fellow at the Foundation for Science and Technology FCT and has published and researched in the areas of Portuguese-speaking African literature, particularly Mozambican, cinema from Portuguese-speaking countries and comparative literature. Currently, in addition to the aforementioned areas, his research interests also focus on theories of (-) world literature, (semi)peripheral literatures and Indian Ocean Studies.
