Flaviane hold a Bsc. in Agronomy (UFMG/FEAD), a Msc. in Plant Genetic Resources (UFSC) and a PhD. in Genetics and Plant Breeding (ESALQ/USP). She won the USP Outstanding Thesis Award (10th edition, 2021), in the areas of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. During her doctorate, she collaborated on research with national and international organizations (Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, the United States and England); and acted as the proposer and creator of a Network of 29 institutions, governmental and non-governmental, from Brazil and Uruguay, to carry out the research project and germplasm collections, involving 5 biomes of the lowlands of South America, in traditional communities of family farmers, riverside peoples, indigenous and quilombolas. She hold a post-doctoral at Harvard University, Department of Landscape Architecture (Cambrigde, United States), and at the University of São Paulo, Department of Genetics. She is currently working on collaborative projects linked to the University of Oxford (UK), which involve advanced genomic data, as Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), associated with archaeological and ecological data, applied to evolutionary studies and ecosystem recovery. She has worked as a collaborator and fellowship holder for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/UN, headquarters in Rome, Italy), in the sector that works to promote the integration of policies and practices aimed at sustainable food production, the preservation of natural resources and the environment for present and future use. A member of the Brazilian Society of Genetic Resources, she held the position of vice-director for the state of São Paulo of the Southeast Network of Genetic Resources (11/2018 - to date). She is the founder of the Interdisciplinary Group for Studies in Agrobiodiversity (InterAbio) and a researcher at the Genetics and Genomics of Conservation Group (GGGC). Actuate in the following areas: i) Genetics and Genomics of Plants; ii) Agrobiodiversity; iii) Ethnobotany; iv) Conservation of Vegetable Genetic Resources, with a focus on local varieties and their wild relatives, and native fruit trees; v) Evolution and Domestication of Plants; vi) Restoration of Ecosystems.
