Wasim Aluísio Prates Syed

Bachelor of Pharmacy-Biochemistry at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, USP (FCFRP-USP). Ph.D. candidate at ICB-USP. Science communicator. Founder and current president at Omics League (Liga de Ômicas), based at the same faculty, and at Vidya Academics. He is also a member at União Pró-Vacina. At Vidya Academics and União Pró-Vacina, works with content creation, graphic design and scientific communication. As Omics League president, he has coordinated the Machine Learning and Bioinformatics study group, Neuromics. He was a CNPq scholarship recipient during his scientific initiation under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Silvana Giuliatti, where he developed projects in the area of Structural Bioinformatics within the Bioinformatics Group at the Department of Genetics of FMRP-USP. Currently, he is a FAPESP scholarship recipient and is conducting research for his PhD, focusing on developing vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 and other betacoronaviruses based on virus-like particles (VLPs) at the VLPs Lab, under the guidance of Dr. Gustavo Cabral de Miranda and co-supervised by Dr. Lorena Chaves.He is currently involved in projects combating misinformation about Covid-19 and vaccines, through União Pró-Vacina and Equipe Halo, a project aimed at promoting vaccine confidence, a partnership of the global initiative UN Verified, with the Vaccine Confidence Project and the Vaccine Alliance. He is a scriptwriter for the podcasts Fake News Não Pod and Informe COVID, produced by Jornal da USP, as well as the VacinaPod project of União Pró-Vacina.
