Graduated in Medicine in 1979, achieved PhD in 1997 in Neurology, at School of Medicine of São Paulo University. Currently is associate professor at the Department of Neurology of FMUSP, and head of the Cellular e Molecular Biology Laboratory at School of Medicine of University of Sao Paulo. The main reserach is in the field of mitochondriopaties, and the studies have focused on alterations of mitocondrial genome, copy number, trasncription machinery alterations and glycolitical and oxidative metabolism unbalance in neurodegenerative diseases and solid tumors.
