Marco Aurélio de Menezes Franco

Assistant Professor of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences of the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences (IAG) of the University of São Paulo (USP). PhD in Physics from the Institute of Physics (IFUSP) of USP; Master in Applied Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos (IFSC) of USP, with research developed at Embrapa Instrumentation; and Bachelor in Physics from the Department of Physics of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The researcher completed a sandwich doctoral internship at the Max Planck Institute of Chemistry (MPIC) in Mainz, Germany, where he remained for 13 months with funding from CAPES and MPIC. The researcher completed a postdoctoral internship at the Institute of Physics of USP with a FAPESP scholarship, in a project involving this institute, the Research Center for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI) and Shell-Brazil. Currently, the professor is accredited as an advisor in the Graduate Program in Meteorology of the IAG and is vice-president of the Culture and Extension Committee (CCEx) of the IAG. In addition, the professor is a member of the Laboratory for Analysis of Atmospheric Processes (LAPAt) and the Center for Sustainable Amazon Studies (CEAS-USP). He has an approved patent application. The researcher works in the following research areas: life cycle of atmospheric aerosols and greenhouse gases in tropical forests and urban areas; relationships between emissions of atmospheric pollutants, greenhouse gases and land use; statistical and machine learning modeling of atmospheric pollutants, greenhouse gas emissions and relationships with land use; and development of instrumentation applied to atmospheric sciences.
