Marcus Vinícius P. Gomes received his doctorate in Public Administration and Government, with distinction, from FGV-EAESP (Brazil) in 2014, after an exchange period at Cardiff Business School. Marcus is an alumnus from the GW4 Crucible 2018 Programme for Future Research Leaders on Resilience, Environment, and Sustainability. Marcus is interested in critical perspectives on Business and Society, as his research focuses on how organizations influence their context through discourses and meanings. Under this perspective, Marcus researches the governance of sustainability, focusing on negotiation and contestations between civil society, corporations and the state. He is particularly interested in the negotiations of environmental degradation (e.g. Amazon deforestation and climate change), human rights violations (e.g. modern forms of slavery) and the emergence of Circular Economy, both as a business? practices and how its transformative agenda can be enacted. He has a background in public management, organizational studies, critical theory and political economy. Moreover, Marcus is passionate about football and supports Palmeiras; he also enjoys reading, swimming and cycling (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
