Fabiani Denise Bender

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology from the Federal University of Santa Maria (2010). I earned a Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of São Paulo - IAG/USP (2012), and a Ph.D. (2017) and Postdoctoral degree (2019) in Science from the Agricultural Systems Engineering program at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo - ESALQ/USP. I have led collaborative projects focused on research and technological development, evaluating the impacts of extreme weather events (droughts/floods) on rainfed agriculture and water resources for human supply and power generation in Brazil. This work was conducted in public institutions such as CEMADEN (within the climate change program), UNICAMP (modeling integrated crop-livestock systems), and EMBRAPA-Digital Agriculture (enhancing and expanding the Agricultural Zoning of Climate Risk - ZARC), providing information to policymakers for decision-making and climate risk mitigation. I have strong skills in programming and data processing, particularly in R. In recognition of my scientific contributions, I received the 2021 Bunge Foundation Award, 65th Edition, in the Youth category in Agricultural Sciences: Impacts of Climate Change on Food Production.
