Jhon-Kelly Monace holds a Ph.D. in Regional Development from the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT). Additionally, he obtained his Master's degree in Social and Human Sciences, with a focus on History, from École Normale Supérieure of the Université d'État d'Haiti, and completed his undergraduate studies in Sociology at the Faculty of Human Sciences of the Université d'État d'Haiti. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences and Letters of the São Paulo State University (UNESP) - Araraquara Campus, where he conducts studies in the areas of Economic Sociology, Migrations, and Emotions. Jhon-Kelly Monace is also a member and researcher at the Center for Studies and Research on Society, Emotions, Power, Organization, and Market (NESPOM-UNESP).A chapter of his doctoral thesis was selected to participate in the 2020 edition of the Mark Claster Mamolen Dissertation Workshop, organized by the Afro-Latin American Research Institute at the Hutchins Center (ALARI) of Harvard University. He also presented research on Haitian migration at the International Seminar on Contemporary Migrations, organized by the Institute for Thinking and the "Maestría en Estudios Críticos de las Migraciones Contemporáneas" program at the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2022. Furthermore, he presented research on migration at the international conference "Plantation Societies in Comparative Perspective," organized by the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, United States, also in 2022. Jhon-Kelly Monace further presented research on migration at the "ALARI Second Continental Conference on Afro-Latin American Studies," organized by Harvard University, also in 2022.He is part of the researchers at the Center for Economic and Cultural Sociology (NUSEC) at the Federal University of Tocantins and has research experience in the areas of cultural sociology, economic sociology, migration sociology, urban planning, and demography. Moreover, he has experience as a researcher on the economic lives of Haitians in Brazil, analyzing from the perspective of economic sociology: production of economic discourses, economy and development, as well as the meanings of money in different social contexts, such as the Haitian transnational social space. His current research interests include emotions, migration, remittances, and gift-giving. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
