Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Technical in Agriculture (2016) and Agronomist Engineer (2022) by the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA). Master in Soils and Plant Nutrition (2024) by the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ), University of São Paulo (USP). Currently (2024 - present), he is pursuing a PhD in Sciences Exactes et Naturelles at the University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu) and develops his research based at Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST, Europe) as PhD Researcher. His work is in the field of soil biogeochemistry and microbial ecophysiology, with a focus on the interaction between microbial traits and soil organic carbon (SOC) turnover in agroecosystems, especially in the fraction derived from microbes, called "microbial necromass". To this end, it uses methods from biochemistry, molecular biology, analytical chemistry and isotopic ecology, including large-scale sequencing of environmental DNA (amplicon and shotgun), DNA Stable-Isotope Probing (DNA-SIP), IRMS, and HPLC. Furthermore, he has experience in computational stats in R (univariate and multivariate approaches) and in bioinformatics focused on amplicon sequencing data. Contact: alberto.sousa-rocha@list.lu.
