Adriano Massuda holds a medical degree from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). He completed residencies in Preventive and Social Medicine and in Health Administration at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Campinas (Unicamp). He earned a Masters and a PhD in Public Health, with a concentration in Health Policy, Planning, and Management, also at Unicamp. He was a visiting researcher at the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.He is currently Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Health, professor at the São Paulo School of Business Administration of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EAESP), and coordinator of the Center for Studies in Health Planning and Management (FGV-Saúde).He has held management positions in the public sector, including Deputy Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Municipal Secretary of Health of Curitiba (PR), Secretary of Science, Technology and Strategic Inputs, and Secretary of Specialized Care at the Ministry of Health. He also worked as a physician in a Primary Health Care Unit in Campinas (SP) and in the management team of the University Hospital of Unicamp.Internationally, he has served as consultant to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), member of the Advisory Panel on Value-Based Healthcare and the Financing Future Innovation of Medicines group at the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). He was a commissioner of the Lancet Global Health Commission on Financing Primary Health Care, Brazil focal point for the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience, and Academic Chair of the WB-PAHO Lancet Regional Health Americas Commission on PHC and Resilience in LAC.His research areas include health policy and systems management, innovation in health systems and policies, organization of care networks, and strengthening health system resilience. He has authored more than 50 scientific articles in national and international journals, including The Lancet, Lancet Global Health, Lancet Regional Health Americas, BMJ Global Health, Health Systems Reform, Health Policy and Planning, Health Policy Open, Social Science Medicine, and the Pan American Journal of Public Health.
