Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Viçosa, Master of Science (Biochemistry) from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School at the University of São Paulo (FMRP/USP), applying solid-phase peptide synthesis in immunochemical studies. PhD in Science (Biochemistry) from FMRP/USP, focusing on proteomics combined with mass spectrometry, molecular biology, and cell biology to study protein-protein interactions in the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System in mammalian cells. Postdoctoral researcher under a BEPE-FAPESP fellowship at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Dr. Heike Laman, biochemically characterizing E3 ligases involved in Cancer and Parkinsons Disease (Fbxo7/PARK15 and Fbxl17). I was a professor for nearly 10 years in the Department of Genetics and Evolution at the Federal University of São Carlos, where I was responsible for courses in Metabolic Biochemistry. Father of two daughters (Sara and Maria Clara), I am currently a Professor in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (DCBm-FCFRP-USP). I am affiliated with the Graduate Program in Biochemistry at FMRP/USP and the Graduate Program in Evolutionary Genetics and Molecular Biology at UFSCar (PPGGEv/UFSCar), teaching courses in biomolecules, protein-protein interactions, and CRISPR-Cas.Our research group focuses on protein metabolism, specifically on the functional characterization of the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System (UPS) in *Leishmania infantum*. We are working on ongoing FAPESP PI and CNPq Universal projects aimed at understanding this system to identify pharmacological targets for the treatment of leishmaniasis. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
