Álex Kalil is a PhD candidate in Social Sciences at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) and holds a degree in Sociology and Politics from the São Paulo School of Sociology and Politics Foundation (FESPSP). He is a researcher at the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP), where he is part of the thematic research project "Religious Pluralism and Diversities in Post-Constitutional Brazil" (USP), funded by FAPESP, and a collaborator at the Digital Ethnography Laboratory (LED/FESPSP). His research focuses on politics, religion, extremism, hate speech, and pluralism. During his undergraduate studies, he was a CNPq fellow and analyzed the participation of actors from São Paulos southern periphery in the 2013 protests. For his masters degree, supported by a CAPES scholarship, he investigated the emergence and trajectory of a far-right movement in São Paulo, highlighting its use of religious narratives to mobilize audiences. Currently, as a FAPESP fellow in his PhD research, he studies anti-gender legislative projects in São Paulos State Assembly (ALESP), exploring how conservative discourses shape electoral and legislative strategies.
