Sonia Violante Ptasznik, 22, is an Environmental Technician and a Biological Sciences undergraduate at São Paulo State University Unesp, currently in her eighth semester. Among Sonias most notable projects are the Coletivo Jovem Albatroz and the Mantas do Brasil Project, both focused on mobilizing youth for the UN Decade of Ocean Science. She also worked with the Tamar Project, which centers on environmental education and marine turtle conservation, carried out in Ubatuba SP. Additionally, Sonia actively participated in two virtual exchange programs: the Virtual Mobility Program: Youth Exchange São Paulo (Brazil) Aichi (Japan), and the Czech-Brazilian Institute exchange. Through these initiatives, Sonia wrote articles highlighting the importance of youth engagement in the Ocean Decade and advocating for the use of sustainable resources as viable energy sources.In 2024, Sonia represented Brazil as a High Seas Youth Ambassador, a project promoted by the High Seas Alliance and EarthEcho International, actively leading campaigns to protect the ocean.
