Juliana Takahashi Machado

I am an undergraduate student in Biological Sciences at the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo, Butantã Campus (2021 - present). At the Laboratory of Human Evolutionary Studies (LEEH), Department of Genetics and Evolutionary Biology, Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo (IB-USP), I focused on the organization and curation of the Awá-Guajá ethnographic fauna collection (2022) and participated in research in the areas of taphonomy and zooarchaeology of paleontological and archaeological sites. I was also involved in a project within the same laboratory, dedicated to the analysis, organization, curation, and externalization of an osteological reference collection of fauna (August 2022 - August 2023). This experience provided me with knowledge in taxonomy, vertebrate zoology, and zooarchaeology. Through this work, I gained skills in photography and website development, thanks to the promotion of the Renato Kipnis Collection developed in the project. I developed a FAPESP-funded scientific initiation project at LEEH (20242025), conducting research in paleontology, taphonomy, and taxonomy of Brazilian Pleistocene fossils.
